Academic Group
The Academic Group is held every Wednesday from 10.30 to 12pm at the Recreation Centre facility at West Wave, Alderman Drive.
There is a fee of $4 per family (regardless of the number of children in that family.)
This year we offer an ongoing course of Junior Science, including chemistry, astronomy, and biology, with plenty of fun experimentation. We also offer a Senior Science version of the same course, which will involve more theoretical work at a higher level.
We also have High School level classes for older children, including literature and history.
The group regularly invites guest speakers to come along for one or two sessions. In the past this has included speakers from Newspapers In Education, The Deaf Society, Toastmasters, and St John’s Ambulance. In the future we hope to invite speakers such as from the armed services, a professional photographer, a careers advisor, and so on.
